Do I Care
PLAY SONG
Verse
I ran into the grocery store
like so many times before
To get some snacks I did not need
I sprinted down the junk food isle
With a face without a smile
Caring ‘bout nothing but my speed
I zipped right past the checkout line
With so much on my mind
I just love using Scan-and-Go
I headed for the exit door
Left my receipt on the floor
To get home to watch my favorite fishing show
Chorus (sing twice)
But do I care, do I care,
Do I care about those around me?
Do I care, do I care
when my neighbors slow down?
Verse
When I got out to the parking lot
I heard a crash like a shot
There were plastic bags floating in the air
There was an older gentleman
who wasn’t having any fun
His arms were thrown up in despair
Then two unlikely younger men
Who must have been sent from heaven
Picked up all the food that they could
And pretty soon I found myself on my knees
Trying to help and do a little good
Chorus (sing twice)
But do I care, do I care
Do I care about those around me?
Do I care, do I care
when my neighbors slow down?
Verse
I walked back to my car so casually
With a warm feeling in my heart
I couldn’t help but wonder then
what would happen if we’d all just do our part
Bridge
I know that someday, my body’s gonna stall
And I wonder then
If anyone will stop, if anyone will stop, if anyone will stop to help me at all?
Chorus (sing twice)
But do we care, do we care
Do we care about those around us?
Do we care, do we care, when our neighbors slow down? when our neighbors, when our neighbors, when our neighbors slow down
